In a breathtaking recent discovery, analysis and enlargement of an old Apollo 16 photo of the Ptolemaeus crater on Earth's moon has yielded a stunning new image.

It appears that there is a crop circle on Luna.

Immediately below is the original photo.  The red square indicates the approximate area near crater Ptolemaeus that was examined.  See the crop circle photo further down the page.

The crop circle can be clearly and unmistakably seen in this multiply magnified section of the image above.   Apparently NASA engineers -- intent on looking at the crater -- never noticed the crop circle in the nearby rugged terrain.

Certainly, had they done so, NASA would have sequestered or modified the image, as they may have done with thousands of others like it.

"One wonders, though," said one investigator, "if NASA knew about this all along -- but assumed that no one would find it."  Is this a new NASA Lunar Conspiracy?  Or perhaps even a "plant" by NASA, designed to mislead?

However, expert examination indicates that the crop circle is, indeed, authentic.  It shows all of the characteristic "fractal" formation and symmetries of hundreds just like it found here on earth.

Further, on even closer examination, the damage to the underlying wheat appears identical to that found in earthly crop circles.  Each of the strands of wheat is smoothly bent approximately 1" above the Lunar surface -- though they do continue to grow.

Experts also detected a "malty" fragrance emanating from the image near the bent strands of wheat.  This is typical of Earth crop circles, as well, as though the wheat had been microwaved or cooked.

Investigators caution that it is still too early to draw firm conclusions; but they speculate that extraterrestrials may have been responsible for making the Lunar crop circle.
